First Day — July 2020

Dear Friends:

For seventy-one years western Ohio Nazarenes have gathered at our beautiful district campground in St. Marys for a week to be “with God” and “with one another”.  It’s a mix of family reunion, tremendous church services, recreation, rest, a little business, and a lot of ice cream. There are also children’s services each morning and evening.

You can see that our line-up for 2020 for preachers is among the very finest we have ever had: General Superintendent Dr. Carla Sunberg, Missionaries Rob and Cindy North, Cincinnati Bengals Chaplain Rev. LaMorris Crawford, Kansas City District Superintendent, Dr. Eddie Estep (a long-time and very close friend of mine).  I have been asked to preach the last service.

Given the coronavirus I want you to know that we are doing all that we can to provide a safe atmosphere.  Seating in the tabernacle will be spread out.  There will be markers in appropriate places to aid in social distancing.  The tables in the dining commons will be spread out (and you can take your food outside).  Extra cleaning and sanitizing will be done each day.

We are requesting of those attending to be aware of and sensitive to others around them.  Social distancing needs to be practiced. Furthermore, we are encouraging people to wear masks when they are going to be in relatively close proximity to other persons, and especially indoors.

An added feature this year is that all of the services along with the entirety of the District Assembly and the NMI and NYI Conventions will be livestreamed.  You can find this at Lighthouse Camp and Retreat Center Facebook page or through a YouTube Channel that will be posted on this site as we get closer to The Gathering.

Please pray for this event that in every way we will be “seek the Lord with our whole hearts” knowing when we do that “He will draw near to us”.  I am very excited about the possibilities of what is going to happen among us and in us!   I look forward to being with you in person or via the livestream.

We are…better together!
