School Of Leadership

Developing Spiritual Leaders for a Changing World

Students will be immersed in the culture of a local NWO Church while pursuing an academic degree through our partnership with Edison State Community College and Mount Vernon Nazarene University. School of Leadership students can choose from different marketplace and ministry degree programs.

Take a look at the School of Leadership program at NWO’s Valley Church and see if it’s right for you. Then email andy.monnin@nwoteam.church to join the school of leadership in your local church .

Pastoral Residencies

Pastoral residencies are for those who have served in a volunteer, part-time, or full-time ministry role for several years, finished at least 2 years of their academic work and want to become fully immersed in practical, pastoral ministry in a vibrant, growing church. Pastoral Residents go through a complete interview process, and if selected, are given a paid residency for 12-18 months where they learn and lead, adding value, in a specific role.

To learn more about placement in a pastoral residency in Northwestern Ohio District email Andy Monnin, Mark Coulter , or talk to the lead pastor at the local church you attend.

The Leadership Development Programs

Students (Ages 16 – 22) will have the opportunity to study and develop leadership skills while serving at our Northwest Ohio District Summer Children’s Camps. 1 Timothy 4:12 states, “Do not let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith, and in purity.” Investing in the next generation is one of the top priorities as a district.

Students may apply to either of the following programs:

Leadership Development Boot Camp (July 30 – August 2)

First year students will have the opportunity to serve with the students in the role as either a camp counselor or support staff. They also will meet for leadership studies with the goal of discovering the following:

  • How to lead the way God has created me
  • How to lead as Jesus led
  • How to lead an event like summer camp
  • How to lead in my local church
Leadership Development Called to Serve (July 27 – August 2, 2025)

Those who have graduated from Leadership Development Boot Camp will have the opportunity to enhance their practical ministry skills by participating in additional leadership opportunities during summer camp. Due to the increase in responsibility, they will be required to meet in a mandatory meeting 4 times prior to summer camp for coaching and practical ministry training.
