Refugee Projects

world relief | Churches of Welcome

The Plan

Beginning July 1, 2024 Northwest Ohio Nazarene Missions International and World Relief will work together strategically through designated catalysts from each party to identify and mobilize NWO-Naz churches in the following ways through World Relief’s Churches of Welcome discipleship journey: LEARN > DO > SERVE > LEAD

  •  12 on the Learning journey – The church forms small groups based on World Reliefs Welcome the Stranger and/or No Longer Stranger curriculums which gives the biblical, theological, practical, and evangelistic ideas for welcoming immigrants and refugees.
  • 12 on the Doing journey – Upon completing the small group curriculum, World Relief will offer a consultation call (individual churches or in a cohort of churches) to engage on a project to welcome refugees such as a welcome kit, DIY refugee simulator toolkit, service project, etc.
  • 5 on the Serving journey – Form a small group of 10-12 adults that will resettle a refugee family through World Relief’s Good Neighbor Team program, which is a six-month commitment. The church will be trained, coached, and supported by World Relief during the lifespan of this team.
  • 1 on the Leading journey – Start a local ministry to immigrants and refugees such as an ESL program, immigration legal services, or an affiliate resettlement site.
  • 2 Charter Member churches Charter members will champion refugee resettlement in their network. World Relief will provide a starter toolkit to implement Fall 2024. They will also be listed on churchesofwelcome.com
